On the east coast, cliffs and endless beaches alternate. The most popular beach in this part of the island is Trou d’Eau Douce. It stretches over a length of 11 kilometers. Opposite the beach lies the small island of Île aux Cerfs. This is a popular spot for surfers. From July to September, they are particularly numerous here, favored by the southeast winds that make the waves ideal for surfing. Mahébourg – a small holiday town with a rich history. It is known for being the place where the Dutch first landed. In honor of this, a naval museum was built in the town, where you can learn everything about the island's maritime history. Curepipe – this town is appreciated by tourists for its large number of shops. They come here for shopping. From this part of Mauritius, it is very close to the island's national parks and nature reserves.
