Alanya is a resort town in the central part of the Turkish Mediterranean coast, often referred to as the “Turkish Riviera.” The city is famous for its extensive beaches lined with hotels – including Cleopatra Beach, where legend has it that the Egyptian queen herself once bathed. On the grounds of the massive Alanya Fortress, built by the Seljuks on a steep cliff above the sea and later converted into an open-air museum, are Ottoman villas with red-tiled roofs and the octagonal Kızıl Kule (“Red Tower”) – the city’s landmark since 1226.
Alanya is located 124 km from Antalya Airport, the region’s international airport.
