It is exactly there that the Strait of Gibraltar connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean, whose waters wash the coasts of southern Spain and Portugal. Our route leads through these lands, filled with the magic of past legends, from which Spanish and Portuguese conquistadors once set out on distant voyages.

This trip is the ideal choice for all travelers who want to get a maximum of impressions, information, and experiences in a short time! Judge for yourself – in just one week, we will visit the southern regions of two countries – Spain and Portugal, colorful Andalusia, as well as the equally picturesque Algarve.

You will visit the places from which Columbus set out on his first voyage, discover Ronda, hidden between mountains, where the first bullring was built, and hospitable Málaga – the hometown of the great Picasso – will remain in your memory forever as the capital of the Spanish Sun Coast and the city of museums.

In neighboring Portugal, we will visit Lagos – the old capital of the region from the era of the great geographical discoveries – as well as Faro and Sagres, where the first navigation school of medieval Europe was located.

You will taste local wines and traditional sweets made from almonds and figs. No one remains untouched by the visit to Cape St. Vincent – the southwesternmost point of Eurasia, where the sunset over the Atlantic becomes an unforgettable natural spectacle.

But that is far from all! One cannot tell everything – one must experience it for oneself. Are you ready?

Day 1

Málaga

Arrival in Málaga, accommodation at a hotel on the Costa del Sol.

Day 2

Málaga – Ronda – Marbella – La Línea (Gibraltar)

After breakfast, departure for a city tour of Málaga – a city founded by the Phoenicians, today the largest port in the southern Mediterranean of Spain and the birthplace of Picasso.

Our tour begins at a viewpoint with a magnificent view of the old town. The ruins of the ancient theater at the foot of the Arab fortress Alcazaba remind us of the Roman era. After the Christian reconquest of the city at the end of the 15th century, construction of the magnificent cathedral began in the 16th century on the site of the old mosque, though it remained unfinished.

After visiting the historic center, we continue to Ronda – a city particularly loved by romantic writers. Ronda is located 100 km from Málaga, in the mountains at an altitude of 740 meters above sea level. In 1785, the first bullring was built here, which is still in use today.

A picturesque road leads us to the coast to the famous resort town of Marbella – a true “vanity fair.” There, we will stop in Puerto Banús – the world-famous marina.

Continue to La Línea, accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3

Gibraltar – Cádiz – Jerez – Huelva

After breakfast, excursion to Gibraltar – a small peninsula with an area of about 7 km². Today it is British territory, the status of which is still disputed between Spain and Great Britain.

During the tour of “Little Britain,” we will visit the unique underground St. Michael’s Caves.

After Gibraltar, continue to Cádiz – one of the oldest cities in Europe, founded almost 3000 years ago by the Phoenicians.

Then, drive to Jerez de la Frontera. Once, the border between Christian and Arab territories ran here. The city became world-famous for its Sherry wine.

Overnight in Huelva or Punta Umbría on the Atlantic coast.

Day 4

Huelva – Tavira – Faro

Drive to Portugal with a stop in Palos de la Frontera – the place from which Columbus set out on his first voyage to America.

Continue to the Portuguese city of Tavira. Walk through the historic center.

Continue to Faro – capital of the Algarve. Visit to the historic center and free time.

Visit to the modern resort of Vilamoura.

Continue to Portimão or Albufeira. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 5

Albufeira / Portimão – Loulé – Silves

Visit to the towns of Loulé and Silves. Drive up to the Monchique mountain for a panoramic view.

Silves – former capital of the Algarve, founded by the Romans.

Day 6

Albufeira / Portimão – Lagos – Sagres – Cape St. Vincent

Visit to the Ponta da Piedade cape with its natural grottoes.

Excursion to Lagos – capital of the Age of Discovery. Visit to the historic center.

Free time for shopping for cork and ceramic products or a boat trip to the grottoes (weather permitting).

Visit to Sagres – site of the first navigation school in Europe.

Visit to Cape St. Vincent – the southwesternmost point of Eurasia.

Day 7

Albufeira / Portimão – Costa da Caparica – (Lisbon)

Drive to Lisbon. Accommodation in the Costa da Caparica resort area.

Day 8

Costa da Caparica – Lisbon

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. End of the trip.
