Arrival and welcome at the airport by a representative of Ceylon Best Holidays. Transfer to Colombo. After lunch – city tour of Colombo.

Founded by Arab traders, fortified by the Portuguese, conquered by the Dutch, and later developed by the British into a significant colonial capital. Today, Colombo combines colonial elegance and modern dynamism.

Sights: – Lighthouse in the middle of the business district – Pettah Market (over 500 years old) – Colonial buildings next to modern skyscrapers

After breakfast – drive to Sigiriya. After lunch – climb the Sigiriya rock.

The 180 m high Lion Rock with the famous “Sky Fortress” (UNESCO World Heritage Site). On the summit are: – Ruins of a royal palace – royal water tank – frescoes of the “Cloud Maidens”

The stairs to the top run between the gigantic lion paws. Poetic inscriptions from the 8th century have also been preserved.

After breakfast – drive to Polonnaruwa.

Medieval capital of Sri Lanka (11th–13th century), UNESCO World Heritage Site. To see: – Royal Palace – artificial lakes – irrigation canals – the famous Gal Vihara sanctuary with four Buddha statues carved into the rock

After lunch – jeep safari in Minneriya National Park.

over 170 bird species: parrots, peacocks, weaver birds, herons, storks, and many more.

The large Minneriya reservoir attracts a particularly large number of animals – a paradise for nature lovers.

UNESCO World Heritage Site, the largest cave temple in the country. In five main caves, you can see: – 153 Buddha statues – 3 kings – 4 Hindu deities (Vishnu, Ganesha, etc.) – over 2100 m² of wall paintings

After lunch – city tour of Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha.

Last Sinhalese capital, surrounded by hills, with Kandy Lake in the center.

Contains the highest Buddhist relic in Sri Lanka – the Tooth of Buddha. Richly decorated with wood carvings, painted ceilings, and silver doors. Famous for the spectacular Esala Perahera procession in August.

Sri Lanka is famous for sapphires, rubies, alexandrites, aquamarines, tourmalines, spinels, etc.

Highland resort at an altitude of 1884 m, with a fresh climate and tea plantations in all directions.

After breakfast – drive to Colombo via Kitulgala.

Filming location of the famous movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957, 7 Oscars). The famous demolition scene was filmed here on the Kelani River.

– 80 m high – 60 m wide – two cascades (Greater and Lesser St. Clair’s). One of the most popular waterfalls in the country.

Also called the “Veil of Sri Lanka”. Three-tiered, approx. 100 m high. Very picturesque, easily visible from the road.
