North coast

This is the warmest part of the island. It is surrounded by a large coral reef that provides excellent protection from the easterly winds, especially in winter. Off the north coast, there are numerous small, picturesque islands.

The main seaside resort in this area is Grand-Baie. It is often referred to as the Mauritian Saint-Tropez. There are many restaurants here featuring various world cuisines. Additionally, there is a wide selection of elegant boutiques.
