Day 1: Delhi – Jaipur (260 km – 5 hrs.) Namaste! Welcome to India, a land of incredible diversity. Meeting of the group at the airport, transfer for breakfast, and continuation to Jaipur. Arrival, check-in, and rest. In the evening, visit the Lakshmi-Narayan Temple. On the way back, a photo stop at the Albert Hall Museum (built in 1876). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Jaipur Jaipur, the “Pink City,” was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The city impresses with colors, markets, as well as jewelry and textile crafts. After breakfast, drive to Amber Fort, ascent by elephant or jeep. Then visit the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar observatory. Continue to Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal. Visit a jewelry and textile workshop. Lunch and visit to the Galtaji Temple with its sacred water pools. Overnight stay.
Day 3: Jaipur – Abhaneri – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (240 km – 5 hrs.) After breakfast, drive to Agra with a stop in Abhaneri. There you will find the impressive 9th-century Chand Baori stepwell as well as the historic Harshat-Mata Temple. Continue to Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of Emperor Akbar. This abandoned city has remained almost unchanged for over 300 years. Arrival in Agra, check-in, leisure time. Overnight stay.
Day 4: Agra Breakfast and visit to the Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), built in the 17th century by Shah Jahan. Continue to the Red Fort – former residence of the Mughal emperors. Visit a marble workshop. After lunch, visit Akbar’s tomb in Sikandra and Itmad-ud-Daula (“Baby Taj”). Overnight stay.
Day 5: Agra – Jhansi (train) – Orchha – Khajuraho Early transfer to the train station. Train ride to Jhansi including breakfast. Continue to Orchha, a medieval town on the Betwa River with well-preserved palaces and temples. Lunch and continue to Khajuraho. Check-in and overnight stay.
Day 6: Khajuraho – Delhi (train) After breakfast, visit the temples of Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for their traditional Indian stonemasonry and historical relief depictions. Continue to the Raneh Waterfall with its colorful granite canyon. Then visit the Ken Gharial Reserve, home to the rare gharial crocodile. In the afternoon, transfer to the train station, train ride to Delhi. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 7: Delhi – full-day tour After breakfast, visit the Qutb Minar and the Iron Pillar. Continue to the Jain temple Ahimsa Sthal as well as the Lotus Temple. Visit Old Delhi with a view of the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid. Continue to Raj Ghat. Visit the Birla Temple and the Sikh temple Gurudwara. Tour through New Delhi with India Gate, Parliament, and President’s Palace. Lunch. Finally, visit the Akshardham Temple with its light and water show. Evening transfer to the airport. End of the trip.
